Kondela, Technical University of Košice, Institute of Geosciences, Slovakia The article summarizes experimental seismological measurements of vibration eff ects of blasting operations. During tunnel excavation can watch a variety of eff ects on the near or distant surroundings of the building. One of the most discussed are the eff ects of vibration, while the most important vibrations are caused when part of the excavation technology also use blasting. In this paper, we focus on the design summary of results from experimental seismological measurements, and the values of the maximum amplitude of vibration, which are measured at small distances from the source of vibration. For comparison also gives the results of experimental measurements of vibration induced at larger distances, or quarries.

Attenuation of spatial aliasing in CMP domain by non-linear interpolation of seismic data along local slopes

Spatial aliasing is an unwanted side effect that produces artifacts during seismic data processing, imaging and interpolation. It is often caused by insufficient spatial sampling of seismic data and often happens in CMP (Common Mid-Point) gather. To tackle this artifact, several techniques have been developed in time-space domain as well as frequency domain such as frequency-wavenumber, frequen...

The Effect of Dynamic Permeability on Velocity and Intrinsic Attenuation of Compressional Waves in Sand

Stress waves contain useful information about the properties of porous materials; they can be recovered through different non-destructive testing methods such as crosswell, vertical seismic profile, borehole logging as well as sonic tests. In all these methods, it is crucial to assess the effects of frequency on wave attributes including velocity and intrinsic attenuation. The dependency of per...

Stable attenuation compensation in reverse-time migration

Attenuation in seismic wave propagation is a common cause for poor illumination of subsurface structures. Attempts to compensate for amplitude loss in seismic images by amplifying the wavefield may boost high-frequency components and create undesirable imaging artifacts. In this paper, rather than amplifying the wavefield directly, we develop a stable compensation operator using smooth division...

P-Wave Attenuation with Implications for Earthquake Early Warning

Several widely implemented and tested earthquake early warning algorithms employ empirical equations that relate earthquake magnitudes with groundmotion peak amplitudes and hypocentral distances. This approach is effective to the extent that the offline dataset available for setting the fitting coefficients in those equations is of sufficient quality and quantity. However, to address the proble...

An Efficient Algorithm for General 3D-Seismic Body Waves (SSP and VSP Applications)

Abstract The ray series method may be generalized using a ray centered coordinate system for general 3D-heterogeneous media. This method is useful for Amplitude Versus Offset (AVO) seismic modeling, seismic analysis, interpretational purposes, and comparison with seismic field observations. For each central ray (constant ray parameter), the kinematic (the eikonal) and dynamic ray tracing system ...
